Keep Lessons Alive - Sandals Foundation campaign

The first thing that comes to mind, when I think of Sandals Resorts International are their magnificent commercials. Endless drone shots of beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water, elegant restaurants and the finest in all inclusive hospitality. Sandals Resorts International comprises five brands; Sandals , Beaches, Grand Pineapple, Fowl Cay Resort and Your Jamaican Villas. Since 1981 they have grown from 1 property to 24  luxury resorts across eight Caribbean countries:  Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia, The Bahamas, Grenada, Barbados, and The Turks & Caicos Islands.

Their presence in the Caribbean is not taken for granted. Sandals Resorts International realizes the economic importance tourism has to the local community. In March of 2009 the Sandals Foundations was created. This is a non profit 501c3 organization purely dedicated to serving the needs of the Caribbean people and their families. In 2015 the foundation was awarded The World Travel Award. Over the years they have been donating and assisting the Caribbean communities. Developing programs and projects focusing on three key areas:

  • Education - School upgrades, school resources, literacy programs.

  • Community - The School of Business, youth engagement, healthcare improvements, Flankers Music Program, SickKids Caribbean, disaster relief programs.  In partnership with the Bob Marley Foundation the WHOA (Women Helping Others Achieve)  addressing issues with gender inequality in the Caribbean.

  • Environment. - Community and employee education on effective conservation practices. The Guy Harvey “Save our Seas”, Coral conservation, marine protection, Trees that Feed Barbados, turtle conservation and the Boscobel Marine Sanctuary.

100% of all Sandals Foundation donations go directly to their programs.

In these trying times The Sandals Foundation recognizes the need to provide children the resources to learn remotely. In August of this year The Keep Lessons Alive campaign was launched. Sandals has matched every $200 donation to purchase up to 500 tablets for Caribbean kids. In addition the campaign has funded the construction of multiple hand washing stations across 18 schools and sourced school supplies for students. The campaign is continuing through October and November. If you would like to donate please go to Education - http://www.sandalsfoundation.org/

As a guest of a Sandals Resort you can also get involved while travelling. The Sandals Foundation corner is located at all Sandals and Beaches resorts. Guests can purchase retail merchandise and all proceeds are donated to the foundation. The Pack for a Purpose program. Guests can bring up to 5lbs of school supplies and drop it off at the front desk. The supplies will be distributed to local schools. Plan on diving in the Caribbean? Purchase a Sandals Foundation Dive Tag and 100% proceeds go to environmental projects.
