Mohonk Mountain House is conveniently located ninety miles from NYC in New Paltz, NY. . It is nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountains. Mohonk Mountain House was founded by Albert Smiley in 1849. Even back then Mr. Smiley and his family were thinking sustainability. The purpose of this resort were for guests to renew the mind, body and spirit and connect with nature.

It has been described by it’s visitors as a home away from home. Driving up the scenic road to the mountain house you can feel your day to day worries fall away.

Many visitors come to Mohonk for the vast trail system. There over 1200 acres of land and 85 miles of carriage roads and trails. There is a trail for every level of hiker. Beautiful scenery is to be found any time of year.

Overnight visitors to Mohonk Mountain House includes 3 meals and an afternoon tea. There are endless activities included in your stay, as well as nightly entertainment.

Green Roof at the Spa

The incredible spa at Mohonk has consistently won awards for their service since 2008. Most recently in 2019 Nina Smiley PH. d. was awarded Women in Wellness: Owner & Operator of the Year. The Spa was listed on “The Top 10 Green Spas and Resorts” and “Top 10 Natural and Organic Facials” by Organic Magazine. (The spa services are additional cost).

The Hudson Valley Golf Course - at Mohonk Mountain House has been awarded Certified Cooperative Sanctuary status from Audubon International, for environment-friendly practices.

The Mohonk Mountain House has been consistent since its inception in 1849 to work within the environment by offering earth-friendly activities and design features. To protect the Shawangunk Ridge in 1963 the Smiley family donated 5300 acres to the Mohonk Trust creating the Mohonk Preserve.

 

Mohonk also offers Day Passes. However, until the final re-opening phases Mohonk is only offering Hiking Passes (which must be purchases in advance). This will provide access to the extensive trails but, not the Mohonk Mountain House unless you are an overnight visitor. If you would like to view Trail Map click here.

  • Spa Services - As of 10July,2020. Available by advance reservation for overnight guests. for Day visitors only available on select weekdays. . (no facials, steam room and saunas are closed). Relaxation pools and massages are available.

  • Golf Course - Open. Advanced reservations required.
